At St. Peter’s, we see computing as an integral part of learning and life. We want our children to become competent and respectful users of computing technology and have the confidence and trust to embrace the ever-changing technology of the modern world. We will instil in our pupils good computing habits and ‘netiquette’, as well as empowering our children to stay safe in the virtual world and to understand the benefits and risks of technology. We will also inspire in them a lifelong love of play, design, code and invention with technology. At St. Peter’s, you will not see computing limited to a weekly lesson. Computing extends into other areas of the curriculum with the children using computer technology in English, Maths, History, Geography, Science and Art lessons. Our Computing Curriculum gives our children exposure to and experiences of the exciting world of computer programming, online safety, digital literacy and information technology. By the time they leave us, the children will be able to create, write and debug a variety of programs; can select, use and combine software on a range of digital devices, and can talk about the risks of online use of technology and how they can minimise them.
